YouTuber Jan Zimmermann has died. He was 27 years old.

His family, in a statement posted on Instagram, said the internet personality died "suddenly and unexpectedly" on Tuesday, Nov. 18, from an epileptic attack.

"There [are] no words to describe the pain we are feeling, but we would like to thank you for your condolences. We currently don't feel able to say more about this," they said.

His loved ones said that his humor, honesty, and big heart were some of the gifts he willingly shared with the people around him.

"He gave courage to people who’ve never met him personally and showed them that even on difficult days, you can walk through life with love and openness," they added.

Zimmerman had Tourette's Syndrome, which is a "neurological disorder that may cause sudden, unwanted, and uncontrolled rapid and repeated movements or vocal sounds called tics," according to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke.

The content creator shared the YouTube channel Gewitter im Kopf with his friend Tim Lehmann, where they posted lighthearted and educational videos about living with Tourette's Syndrome to a fanbase of over 2 million subscribers.
