Anne Hathaway sets the record straight on facelift rumors
Anne Hathaway is addressing persistent facelift rumors online.
In an interview with Elle Magazine, the 43-year-old actress denied claims that she had secretly undergone cosmetic surgery.
“We’re at a time when people feel very confident in assuming what they think is fact,” Hathaway said after being asked about a braided hairstyle tutorial video on Instagram in March that sparked renewed speculation. “Sometimes what they think is accurate and sometimes it’s not.”
The Devil Wears Prada star admitted the constant scrutiny has been difficult to ignore. “The speculation has gotten so loud that you do feel the need to just get your truth out there,” she shared, noting she sometimes wonders whether she should have avoided posting the viral clip altogether.
According to the actress, the lifted effect people noticed in the viral clip was simply the result of hairstyling.
“I wanted to show that like, no, I didn’t make a huge medical decision. It’s just two braids,” she said.
However, Hathaway didn’t rule out the idea of cosmetic work in the future, joking, “I might still get a facelift someday.”
Previously, Hathaway told Today that she doesn't "think about age."
"To me, aging is another word for living. So, if you want to pay a compliment, it's nice. But whatever the hype is, I'm interested in what's beyond the concept of hype," he said.
Hathaway recently starred in Mother Mary and The Devil Wears Prada 2. She will headline Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey in July along with Matt Damon and other A-list actors.
