Selena Gomez, Miley Cyrus react to releasing new singles on the same day
Could a Selena Gomez-Miley Cyrus collab come to reality?
On Friday, August 19, the former Disney Channel stars both announced the release date of their new singles within an hour of each other.
Miley revealed that she will be releasing a single on Aug. 25 called Used To Be Young, a song dedicated to her loyal fans.
"This song is dedicated to my loyal fans. I love YOU for loving every version of ME. Always, Miley," she wrote on Instagram.

On the very same day, Selena will also be releasing a new single—three years since she released her album Rare in 2020.

Both stars reacted to the release date of their new singles, posting a clip from a Hannah Montana episode.
On X, formerly Twitter, Miley wrote a reposted a clip of her and Selena, who played as her pop star rival Mikayla Skeech.
"@selenagomez and I are both dropping our new SINGLEs SOON... I SAY WE #USEDTOBEYOUNG," the Wrecking Ball singer said.
The 31-year-old Lose You to Love Me singer also sent love to Miley with an acknowledgment of their upcoming tracks.
“@mileycyrus and I both have a SINGLE SOON and we are releasing on the same day,” she wrote on her Instagram Story alongside the same clip from Hannah Montana.
“We have been friends since we USED TO BE YOUNG. Excited for August 25!!!” she added.
Because of this, fans couldn't help but wonder what it would be like if the pair have worked together on a piece of music.
"A queen embracing another queen!! We love to see it!!" a social media user said.
"I know a collab between Miley and Selena would break records," a hopeful fan wrote.
"OMG. Are both of you [working on] the same song or [a] different song," another fan chided.
The two pop stars both began their careers as Disney stars where Miley played as Miley Stewart in the hit Hannah Montana series while Gomez played Alex Russon on the Wizards of Waverly Place from 2007 to 2012.
It was 2006 when Miley was romantically involved with Nick Jonas and ended in 2008. Miley described it as an "intense and borderline obsessive breakup."
A year after the breakup, an alleged real-life feud began between the two female stars when Selena started dating the same Jonas brother. She confirmed the relationship in an interview two years later and said she’d thought at one point she’d get married to Nick. He was her “first love,” but the romance didn’t last.
Miley and Selena have then denied that they have a feud and blame the mainstream media for setting them against each other.
