Main cast of Song Hye Kyo, Gong Yoo’s upcoming drama revealed
The main cast of Song Hye Kyo and Gong Yoo’s upcoming drama on Netflix has been revealed.
According to a report by K-media outlet Soompi, Lee Hanee, Seolhyun, and Cha Seung Won are joining the cast of the upcoming drama, Show Business (previously titled "Slowly but Intensely") as confirmed by Netflix on Feb. 10.
Set in the 1960s and 1980s, the upcoming drama will tell the behind-the-scenes stories of people in the industry, revealing their struggles and sacrifices to thrive in it.
Hye Kyo will play the lead role of Min Ja, a resilient and determined woman who has overcome a challenging childhood. She plans to pursue a career in South Korea’s music industry.
Joining her in taking risks in the entertainment industry is Yoo’s character, Dong Gu, Min Ja’s unpredictable childhood friend, yet “fiercely loyal and always stands by Min Ja, ready to support her no matter what.”
Meanwhile, Summer Strike star Seolhyun will play Min Hui, who has a “sharp and rebellious side” who shares a complicated love-hate relationship with Min Ja since childhood.
Lee Ha Nee, known for her role in The Fiery Priest, portrays Yang Ja, Min Hui's mother, a woman fiercely determined to achieve her dream of becoming a singer, even amidst financial hardship.
One Ordinary Day star Cha Seung Won will play Gil Yeo, a legendary composer and a powerful figure in the music industry.
The series is written by Noh Hee Kyung, who worked on previous K-dramas such as It’s Okay, That’s Love, That Winter, The Wind Blows, and Our Blues.
According to the report, it will be released as a 22-episode series on Netflix. More details, including its release date, have yet to be announced.
