After a decade-long hiatus, veteran actress Hilda Koronel is set to grace the silver screen once again.

Movie and television studio The IdeaFirst Company announced on their social media pages that the veteran actress will make an acting comeback through a new film directed by Jun Robles Lana, who helmed movies such as And the Breadwinner is… and Die Beautiful.

"More than 10 years after her last film, Ms. Hilda Koronel will soon make a comeback to the big screen with SISA, a historical thriller written and directed by Jun Robles Lana," the studio said.

Sisa will focus on a woman who "defies expectations in an era when women were meant to be silent."

It will be an international co-production between The IdeaFirst Company, Octobertrain Films, Quantum Films, Cineko Productions, CMB Films, and Myanmar-based Forever Group.

According to the studio, Lana especially crafted the film for Koronel, who they described as a "legendary actress and the epitome of grace and talent."

"Hilda Koronel’s impact on Philippine cinema is undeniable as she has set the gold standard for generations of actors to come," they highlighted.

Details on the film's release date and other cast members have yet to be revealed.

Koronel has had a thriving career in the world of showbiz. After making her debut in the 1970 action film Santiago! directed by Lino Brocka, the 67-year-old actress starred in many iconic projects such as Maynila: Sa mga Kuko ng Liwanag, Insiang, and Kung Mangarap Ka’t Magising.

She has earned many recognitions from the Metro Manila Film Festival, the Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences Awards, and the Gawad Urian Awards.

Her last film was the 2012 romantic melodrama film The Mistress, which stars John Lloyd Cruz, Bea Alonzo, and Ronaldo Valdez.
