Demi Lovato's ex-fiance denies statements that he disapproves her new engagement: 'I only want the best for everyone'

Demi Lovato's ex-fiance Max Ehrich has denied that he had posted statements saying he still holds romantic feelings for the singer and how he disapproves of her new engagement.

Lovato recently delighted her fans when she shared on her Instagram account that she is now set to be wed to songwriter Jordan "Jutes" Lutes. In her caption, she said she had the "best night of my life" that evening and is "excited" to marry the 32-year-old artist.

The happy moment was mired with controversy when an Instagram account that appeared to belong to Max voiced out strong reactions against the engagement.

"I don’t regret anything I did, I did everything for love, but unfortunately I was prevented from talking to Demetria," the post read before mentioning Lovato's longtime security guard Max Lea.

"You’re the reason she won’t marry the love of her life who has always been me, now she will be unhappy for the rest of her life, and it’s your fault. Anyway love you forever, Demi," the account added, accompanying the post with throwback pics of Lovato and Ehrich together.

Convinced it was Ehrich, Lovato's fans were enraged and directed backlash at the singer-actor. However, Ehrich later released a statement through his own verified Instagram page, calling the post fake.

"I am aware of the fake pages that were created to post fabricated and cruel messages about a truly joyful occasion in Demi's life, a moment that should only be celebrated," he wrote.

"That chapter of our lives was closed peacefully and privately a long time ago. I only want the best for everyone and from the bottom of my heart I truly wish them a lifetime of peace and happiness," he added.

Ehrich requested that he be removed from the controversy and urged the fake accounts to stop spreading false information.

In March 2020, Ehrich and Lovato began a relationship that led to an engagement in July. However, they broke it off two months later and ultimately parted ways.
