Good news, K-drama fans: Park Bo Gum and IU will star in a new Netflix series!

Netflix announced on Tuesday, Jan. 30 that the Korean stars will team up for a K-drama series dubbed When Life Gives You Tangerines.

Set in the 1950s in Jeju Island, the upcoming show will follow the story of rebellious Ae-sun (IU) who finds herself in a budding romance with Gwan-sik (Park Bo Gum), a quiet but reliable man who has nothing but “pure love” for Ae-sun.

According to the streaming platform, its Korean title was derived from the Jeju dialect, which translates to “Thank you for your hard work.”

Joining them in the cast are Queenmaker star Moon So-ri and The World of the Married actor Park Hae-joon who will portray the older versions of Ae-sun and Gwan-sik.

Lee Jun Young from Mask Girl is also reportedly joining the series.

The Korean offering will be directed by Kim Won Seok (Signal and My Mister). It will be written by Lim Sang Chun who also wrote When the Camellia Blooms.

Further details, including its release date, are yet to be announced.

This marks the first time that the two will be starring in a K-drama together.

Apart from her music, IU is known for her roles in My Mister, Hotel del Luna, and Moon Lovers: Scarlett Heart Ryeo. Park Bo Gum, meanwhile, is known for his characters in the series Reply 1988, Record of Youth, and Encounter.
