Kourtney Kardashian, Travis Barker open up about miscarriage before son was born
Kourtney Kardashian Barker and her husband Travis Barker recently revealed their heartbreaking experience months after they began dating.
In the Blink-182 drummer's upcoming documentary, Travis Barker: Louder Than Fear, which premiered on June 13 in New York, the couple opened up about a miscarriage that happened before they welcomed their son, Rocky Thirteen, who is now two years old.
Per PEOPLE, the couple, who have been married since 2022, got pregnant in 2021, about six months after they started dating. They eventually learned they were expecting a baby girl and had already decided on naming her Tulip.
At their three-month prenatal appointment, however, they were told the baby no longer had a heartbeat.
"When we lost the baby, we were devastated. We cried for days," Kardashian Barker said in the documentary, per EW.
Before giving birth to their son in November 2023, the couple talked openly about their efforts to conceive.
In May 2024, Kardashian Barker wrote, in reply to a question on her Instagram Stories about her struggles with in vitro fertilization, "I stopped after a year of trying (five failed IVF cycles, three retrievals)[.] My body relaxed, and I believed in God's plan for my life."
"Lots of prayers for whatever was meant to be for us. Also, lots of optimizing my health," she added.
Her pregnancy with Rocky Thirteen was "100% natural," she later confirmed.
"I got pregnant 100% naturally, not through IVF...one year after stopping IVF, actually. Through God's blessing on Valentine's Day," she wrote.
The eldest Kardashian sibling said, during a season 4 episode of The Kardashians, that it was a surprise pregnancy.
"We were not trying whatsoever. I wasn't even checking my ovulation anymore. We decided to put it in God's hands and thought it was just not happening. We were accepting of it and then...God's plan," Kardashian Barker said.
Both parents have three children from previous relationships.
Kardashian Barker shares Mason, 16, Penelope, 13, and Reign, 11, with her ex-boyfriend Scott Disick. Barker shares three children with his ex-wife Shanna Moakler: stepdaughter Atiana, 27, whose father is former boxer Oscar de la Hoya; Landon, 23, and Alabama, 21.
