Cauayan, Isabela beauty queen dies at 25 in car accident
Local beauty queen Alexis Ann Ramos passed away after figuring in a car accident. She was only 25.
The Cauayan City Local Government announced the news in a Facebook post on Aug. 10: "It is with deep sadness that the City Government of Cauayan extends its heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones of Alexis Ann Isidro Ramos, Mutya ng Cauayan 2023."
In its memoriam, the Isabela LGU remembered Ramos as someone who represented the city "with grace, poise, and purpose. Her vibrant spirit and dedication to our community will forever be remembered."
Per an Aug. 10 report by iFM News Cauayan, Ramos and her boyfriend James died after the Toyota Vios they were riding slammed into the back of a parked truck carrying harvested rice in Brgy. Minante 2, Cauayan in the early morning of Aug. 9. Ramos' boyfriend was behind the wheel, with their friend in the back seat.
According to the investigation of the Cauayan City Component Police Station, the truck was parked on the shoulder of the road in the direction of Alicia, Isabela, where Ramos and her companions were supposedly headed.
Clips aired by iFM News showed the remains of the wrecked Vios with its roof torn off and the hood and front seats demolished.
The impact of the crash caused numerous injuries to Ramos and her companions, who were rushed to the hospital. James was declared dead on arrival, and Ramos passed away shortly after. As of Aug. 10, their friend was still in the hospital under observation.
Ramos was crowned Mutya ng Cauayan in April 2023 and won second runner-up at the Queen Isabela 2024 pageant.
Police are conducting an investigation into the incident.
