Son Ye Jin in talks to star in new thriller drama
Son Ye Jin may star in a new thriller drama to be directed by Kim Yong Hoon, who also helmed the hit Netflix series Mask Girl.
K-media outlet Soompi reported that the Crash Landing on You star is currently reviewing the offer to star in an upcoming drama dubbed Variety, a thriller drama to be produced under CJ ENM.
“We did offer the role to Son Ye Jin, but as the project is still in its early stages, nothing has been finalized yet. Details such as the broadcast schedule and other casting decisions have not been determined,” a representative from CJ ENM said.
Per the report, the drama will center on an idol group. Ye Jin was offered the role of “a charismatic, sharp-witted, and outspoken character” which can be compared with former ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin.
The production team is also reportedly eyeing active and former idols to cast for key roles, including Squid Game 2 star and former IZ*ONE member Jo Yu Ri.
Prior to this, she is set to film an upcoming Netflix series dubbed Scandal with Ji Chang Wook.
She recently completed filming for the thriller movie, No Other Choice, which she co-stars with Lee Byung Hun. It was directed by Park Chan Wook—who worked on horror/thriller films The Handmaiden, Decision to Leave, Lady Vengeance, and Oldboy.
