Musician Dave Grohl admitted to fathering a baby outside of his marriage.

In an Instagram post on Sept. 11, Grohl shared a text image of his bombshell announcement.

"I’ve recently become the father of a new baby daughter, born outside of my marriage,” the 55-year-old said. “I plan to be a loving and supportive parent to her."

Grohl noted that he loves his wife and children, noting that he is "doing everything I can to regain their trust and earn their forgiveness."

The Best of You singer didn't provide details about the identity of the mother of his newborn daughter, but he is "grateful" for his fans' "consideration towards all the children involved, as we move forward together."

This was not the first time the Grammy winner admitted to being unfaithful to his partner. In a 2007 interview with the Guardian, Grohl disclosed that his extramarital affairs were a factor in his separation from his first wife, Jennifer Youngblood.

He and his photographer wife were married for three years and separated in 1996. The following year, they divorced.

Grohl's second wife is director Jordyn Blum, 48. They've been married since 2003 and have three children together, Violet, 18, Harper, 15, and Ophelia, 10. He and Blum were last spotted together at a Wimbledon tennis tournament in London in July.

In a 2009 interview with Time, Grohl described how fatherhood changed his views on constant touring with the Foo Fighters.

“I used to tour nine months out of the year. Now I don’t like being away from my kids for more than 12 days,” he shared. “It’s changed everything that I do. When you have kids, you see life through different eyes. You feel love more deeply and are maybe a little more compassionate. It’s inevitable that that would make its way into your songwriting.”

Grohl is the former drummer of the grunge act Nirvana, which disbanded after its frontman Kurt Cobain died by suicide in 1994.

He then founded the rock band Foo Fighters serving as its lead vocalist and guitarist.
