Why Anne Curtis turned emotional after seeing 'Breakfast at Tiffany's' reenactment for the first time
It was a vulnerable moment for Anne Curtis the first time she saw the video ad she did as the latest brand ambassador of Tiffany & Co.
Created by film director Alithea Castillo, the ad reenacted the first scene of the 1961 film Breakfast at Tiffany's starring Audrey Hepburn.
This wasn't the first time Curtis recreated the scene. As shared by Curtis on Instagram, she did the same with her late father, James Ernest Curtis-Smith, years ago; except they did it just for their own fun, not in partnership with the jewelry brand.
"Twelve years ago in New York, my daddy walked beside me to Tiffany's helping me recreate a scene from a film we both adored. He bought my coffee and a croissant, playing the role he jokingly claimed as his own, my 'propsman'," Curtis wrote.
Sitting in a robe in the middle of a makeup session in a hotel room, Curtis appeared initially excited to be watching the video for the first time as Castillo held her laptop in front of Curtis. The final clip, though, brought out the waterworks. Knowing the personal meaning the reenactment held for Curtis, Castillo ended the ad with, "A special tribute to James Ernest Curtis-Smith."
Curtis' father passed away on Jan. 7. Curtis and her sister Jasmine, a fellow actress, have since shared about their profound grief on social media.
The project was a long time coming, with plans beginning in 2023. However, Curtis' schedule could only accommodate the shoot three years later.
It almost didn't pan out, however, because of the emotional weight the scene held for the actress.
"My heart began to sting...longing, if only for a moment, to return to that time. At first, I hesitated...but then I realized how beautiful it would be to relive it once more...this time, as a tribute," she wrote.
Quoting the film's theme song, Moon River, Curtis added she made the video "for my dearest huckleberry friend."
Curtis was in New York City to attend Tiffany & Co.'s Blue Book 2026: Hidden Garden gala. She arrived at the event in a deep navy gown created by Filipino designer Mark Bumgarner. The event marked the unveiling of Tiffany & Co.'s Blue Book 2026 collection.
