BTS' Suga issues public apology following drunk driving case
BTS' Suga issued a public apology for driving an electric scooter while under the influence of alcohol.
This came after authorities found Suga lying on the ground in Seoul's Yongsan neighborhood after he fell from his electric scooter while intoxicated.
He was then questioned at the Yongsan Police Station on violating the Road Traffic Act.
Citing K-pop fan community platform Weverse, Yonhap News Agency said that the 31-year-old K-pop star issued an apology following the incident.
"I feel heavy-hearted and sorry for disappointing you," he said.
"Although no one was injured and no property was damaged, I take full responsibility for my actions, which cannot be excused. I sincerely apologize to everyone."
Suga went on to explain how the incident happened. According to him, he was returning home on an electric kick scooter after drinking at a particular dinner meeting. The K-Pop idol assumed that the distance was short and that he didn't know riding an electric schooter while under the influence of alcohol is prohibited. and not knowing that "operating an electric scooter while under the influence of alcohol is prohibited."
"I fell while parking the kick scooter in front of my house. And then there was a police officer nearby," he shared. "I was given a breathalyzer test and subsequently had my license revoked and was fined."
He returned home after the police investigation.
The K-Pop idol started his military service in September 2023 and has been working as a social service agent for six months.
In March, he started his basic military training, which will last for three weeks at the Nonsan training center.
Suga is set to be discharged from the military in June next year.
Meanwhile, in 2023, Suga dropped his first solo album, titled D-DAY, on April 21. In the same year, he went on his first solo tour for his album.
In 2020, Suga dropped his second mixtape titled D-2, following a self-titled one, Agust D., released in 2016.
