Filipino celebrities mourn death of Charlie Kirk, an American conservative activist and Trump ally
Filipino celebrities have mourned the death of Charlie Kirk, a right-wing activist, influencer, and supporter of US President Donald Trump, after he was fatally shot while speaking at a university event.
"The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead," Trump wrote on Truth Social on Sept. 11 (PH Time). Kirk was addressing the crowd at an event at Utah Valley University on Wednesday, Sept. 10, when he was shot.
A university spokesperson said the gunman was roughly 200 yards from Kirk's event, and the hit came after 20 minutes when he began speaking, per a PEOPLE Magazine report.
According to a report by AFP, the investigators believe the single bullet was fired from a rooftop on campus by an individual dressed in black, suggesting it was a targeted attack.
Media personality and author Anthony Pangilinan expressed his grief at Kirk's death.
"I deeply grieve and am so upset with the assassination of [Charlie Kirk], one you could always argue with but could never ignore. And so, a force from darkness silenced him," he wrote on Instagram story, sharing Kirk's family photo.

"But the voice and love of God through him cannot be silenced. Comfort to his wife Erika and 2 kids," he added.
Social media personality Doug Kramer also mourned his death. Doug said the Turning Point USA founder was "one of the men I truly admired."
"No, not Charlie Kirk! What is happening in the USA!" he wrote on his Instagram story. "Of the men I truly admired. He loved Jesus. He wanted a better America. He’s a family man. My heart is broken for his family." His wife, Chesca Garcia-Kramer, also expressed her grief on her Instagram Story.
Celebrity doctor and media personality Hayden Kho shared how Kirk has been "a source of inspiration and wisdom for me."

"You will be missed [Charlie Kirk]," he wrote. "I’m praying for your family."
Enrique Gil also posted Kirk's family photo, calling for prayers for his bereaved family after the unfortunate incident.
Matteo Guidicelli, meanwhile, reshared video news about his death, writing, "Violence is NEVER the solution."
Toni Gonzaga, Joyce Pring, actor Grae Fernandez, and singers Quest and Jayda also expressed their grief in their Instagram stories.
Kirk co-founded the conservative non-profit organization, Turning Point USA, that promotes right-wing values among young Americans on campuses and universities.
He's also expressed his major support for Trump over the years. He often promotes anti-immigration views, strong Christian beliefs, gun ownership rights, and shares clips of his debates at campus events on his Instagram and YouTube accounts.
