Shannen Doherty on cancer diagnosis: 'I’m fighting for my life every day'

Shannen Doherty became emotional while talking about her battle with cancer at the 90s Con in Florida last Sept. 17.

Together with the original cast members of the popular 90s teen drama Beverly Hills, 90210, the 52-year-old actress gave the fans a sad update about her health and received a standing ovation from the crowd.

“Thank you so much,” she said. “You guys know how much I love crying constantly. And I do, it seems. So, thank you.”

“I have a fight for my life, that I deal with every day. I think I am really great,” Shannen added.

Despite the heavy news, the actress joked about her life aspect that she’s “doing very well” with—which was to get “engaged, married and divorced.” Earlier this year, she separated from her third husband of 11 years, Kurt Iswarienko.

The star also said that she will launch a podcast titled, “Let’s Be Clear,” which is a “live interactive memoir” and that she will be “spilling tea, but nicely” this November.

Shannen has always shared her journey—from her first diagnosis with breast cancer in 2015, which went into remission in 2017, then returned in 2020, up to now.

Last June, the 90s star revealed that the cancer had spread to her brain. She also underwent surgery to remove a tumor from her head, after a CT scan examined that the cancer cells had spread from her breast to her brain.
