ABS-CBN, Star Magic ask public to stop making fake news on KathNiel breakup: ‘Allow them to heal and move on’

ABS-CBN and Star Magic appealed to the public to refrain from making fake news in connection to Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla’s split.

In a statement released on Saturday, Dec. 2, the media company and its talent agency began by stressing they respect and understand the former couple’s mutual decision to call it quits.

“Let’s respect their statements and refrain from adding more to what was already said or create fake news,” they added.

“They have not done any interviews or issued any new statements as they have already expressed their sentiments on social media,” they continued.

Expressing their “unwavering support” for KathNiel, ABS-CBN and Star Magic asked everyone “to respect them and allow them to heal and move on.”

Kathryn and Daniel confirmed their breakup last week after an 11-year romance. “We've been drifting apart for a while now, and we ultimately had to accept that we can't go back to where we used to be,” Kathryn said, adding that their love story “began with respect and ended with respect.”

The news came after weeks of breakup rumors, which started when talent manager Ogie Diaz brought it up in his vlog but clarified there was no confirmation regarding it.

Ogie cited an insider as he mentioned the name of Andrea Brillantes, who’s supposedly secretly meeting with Daniel.

Andrea and Kathryn unfollowed each other on Instagram amid the issue. The latter’s friends in the entertainment industry also unfollowed the former.

Another Kapamilya star, Gillian Vicencio, has also been accused of being the third party in KathNiel’s relationship. She seemingly denied the speculations on X, where she wrote: “‘Wag niyo po ako idamay dito, hindi po totoo. Bigyan naman po natin sila ng respeto.”

KathNiel made their debut as a love team on the teen series Growing Up in 2010. It was followed by numerous projects such as Princess and I (2012), Got to Believe (2013), She’s Dating the Gangster (2014), Pangako Sa’yo (2015), Crazy Beautiful You (2015), Barcelona: A Love Untold (2016), La Luna Sangre (2017), and The Hows of Us (2018).

Their onscreen romance eventually blossomed off-screen, with the two finally confirming their years-long relationship in 2018.
