Gary Valenciano to push through with 'Pure Energy: One More Time' second day concert
"I will be at the Araneta today. No weapon formed against me will prosper."
These are the words of Mr. Pure Energy Gary Valenciano as his team announced that the second day of his Pure Energy: One More Time concert will be pushed through on Sunday, December 22 at 8 p.m. at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.
"It's a go! Today's Sunday [December 22] show will be pushing through. Thank you everyone for your prayers, especially our [December 22] ticket buyers for your patience and understanding," the Facebook post read.
It added, "We apologize for any inconvenience during the standby for this announcement. The decision of Gary came with much prayer. We will see you later tonight 8 p.m. at SMART ARANETA COLISEUM for Gary V PURE ENERGY One More Time!"
The announcement came after the first day of Valenciano's concert had to be cut short due to a health problem.
The singer kicked off his two-night show on Friday, Dec. 20, at the Araneta Coliseum. It was supposed to start at 8:00 p.m., but at 8:20 p.m., it was announced that the show would be delayed due to unforeseen circumstances. Around 20 minutes later, his daughter Kiana performed a few songs for the crowd.
Gary showed up onstage at around 9:20 p.m. and shared that he was feeling under the weather in his opening speech. "I've never faced this kind of situation before where wala nga akong ibang ginawa kundi magthrow up lang sa likod," he said as he was getting the IV cannula in his hand fixed. "I got dehydrated and they had to rehydrate me."
"So, 'yung nasa utak ko ngayon, there's a part of my brain, 'Wala na 'to, Gary, 'di mo kaya 'to. But my spirit wants to believe that, 'Kaya nga nandidito tayo ngayon, dahil sabi ni Lord, 'Ito, mangyayari.'"
"However, if at some point in time, I also feel him saying, 'Gary, this is the first time your concert's going to be like this where you won't be able to finish it but you'll still be able to speak into people's hearts through as I need you, then I'm going to do that," he said.
After singing a few of his hits, such as Di na Natuto, Warrior is a Child, and Natutulog ba Ang Diyos?, the singer said he wasn't sure if he could go through with his concert.
"I don't know if I can finish this show tonight," he told the crowd. "But what I want to do is that I want to do the songs that I know can speak to your hearts."
"It breaks my heart to know that we have prepared so much for all of you but the body is saying, 'Gary, be cautious, Gary. You have many more years to go,'" he said with a smile.

He sang Take Me Out of the Dark before officially ending his show.
In a Facebook post, his wife Angeli explained that the singer "ingested something and vomited so many times in the last two hours." Despite how he was feeling, Gary insisted on pushing through with the concert while doctors were on standby backstage.
Likewise, in a video shared by Angeli, Gary can be seen getting treatment after the show and assuring fans he’s feeling better.
“Hey guys, I’m getting better. I’ll be okay, don’t worry,” he said in the clip.
Pure Energy: One More Time is a follow-up concert to Gary's Pure: Energy: One Last Time show in April.
Over the years, Gary has had several health scares. He previously suffered and survived tuberculosis and hepatitis. He also underwent open heart surgery in 2018 and battled kidney cancer.
