Maris Racal shares beauty and self-love tips: 'When you own yourself, you'll be unstoppable'

What makes a person beautiful? For Maris Racal, known for her iconic acting roles and trendsetting memes, a person fully embodies that vibe when they own themselves.

Speaking to members of the media at an event where she was announced as the brand ambassador of Dazzle Me Philippines, the 26-year-old actress opened up about the "unrealistic" beauty standards she faced as a celebrity and how owning herself helped her navigate these.

"Now [that] I am more mature, mas kilala ko na sarili ko. Hindi [na] ako nagpapa-subject sa mga [negative comments] kasi I know myself, I know my worth, my own beauty and I own myself," she said.

Maris continued, "When you own yourself, you will be confident whatever stage you'll be put on or event or anumang social gathering, kapag owned mo ang sarili mo, you will be unstoppable."

'Makeup is fun'

For those still finding their footing with makeup, The Pinoy Big Brother: All In alumna said to keep it light and fun.

"Huwag kayong ma-pressure. Make-up is fun, and you should enjoy yourself. You're beautiful," Maris shared. "Don't be scared. Ang first step n'yan is alamin mo lang how to have fun with it and experiment with it," she added.

"[The] important step is to know your skin texture, skin tone, skin type kasi kapag alam mo siya, alam mo na 'yung makeup product na gagamitin mo, and look for products na magaan sa skin."

Maris talks about self-love during the Dazzle Me event

Maris recently starred in the psychological sports drama film Sunshine, which is getting a world premiere at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival. She will play the role of a young gymnast who finds out she's pregnant just before she tries out for the national team.

Additionally, she will appear in the upcoming action series Incognito with Anthony Jennings, Richard Gutierrez, Daniel Padilla, and Ian Veneracion.

After her stint in PBB, Maris starred in several successful films and television shows, such as Just the Way You Are, Vince and Kath and James, The Breakup Playlist, and more. Her most recent stint was in the romantic drama series Can't Buy Me Love with Anthony Jennings.
