Mariah Carey has spoken up for the first time after her mom and sister died on the same day in August.

Carey took to her Instagram account on Sunday, Sept. 9 to announce that she was back at work almost two weeks after confirming that her mom Patricia, and sister Alison had passed away.

“Back at work. It’s been a couple of rough weeks, but I appreciate everyone’s love and support so much,” the Always Be My Baby singer wrote, sharing a short clip of her singing a slow, stripped-down version of her 2005 song, It's Like That

The 55-year-old singer is resuming her tour, “The Celebration of Mimi" on Sept. 15 and 16 in China, and Brazil for the Rock in Rio 2024 festival on Sept. 22.

Carey confirmed her mom and sister’s death on Aug. 27.

"My heart is broken that I’ve lost my mother this past weekend. Sadly, in a tragic turn of events, my sister lost her life on the same day," she said in the exclusive statement shared to PEOPLE magazine.

"I feel blessed that I was able to spend the last week with my mom before she passed," she added. "I appreciate everyone’s love and support and respect for my privacy during this impossible time."

Carey and her mother had a falling out in 2001 after Patricia reported Mariah to the police, alleging that she was experiencing a mental health crisis.

In 2020, Carey opened up about her “complicated” relationship with her mom, sister, and brother in her memoir, The Meaning of Mariah Carey.

The singer accused Alison of being a drug addict and claimed that her sister had tried to persuade her to use drugs.

"For my sanity and peace of mind, my therapist encouraged me to literally rename and reframe my family,” she wrote in her memoir, as reported by People. “My mother became Pat to me, Morgan my ex-brother and Alison my ex-sister ... I had to stop expecting them to one day miraculously become the mommy, big brother and big sister I fantasized about.”

Meanwhile, the All I Want For Christmas Is You singer gave an early Christmas greeting to her Filipino fans.

“Philippines, it's time (only for you!!) I hope you're all safe and well. Let’s celebrate together,” she wrote.
