Hugh Jackman mourns passing of dog Dali

As our furry companions have a shorter lifespan than us, it's always tragic whenever the time comes to let them go. Actor Hugh Jackman experienced this difficult moment when he said goodbye to his beloved dog Dali after he sadly passed away.

Jackman took to his Instagram account to reveal that his French Bulldog companion had died on the night of Aug. 5 at the age of 11, just short of his next birthday.

"It’s a very sad day for our family. Dali, our beloved Frenchie, passed away last night. He would’ve been 12 next month, which I’m told is a long life for this breed," Jackman wrote.

He accompanied his post with pictures of Dali kissing him affectionately on the neck and face as he flashed a cheerful smile.

"I always, always called him the ROCKSTAR. Because he was! He marched to the beat of his own drum, was beloved by the whole world, and boy did he have a good life," Jackman wrote.

"We will miss him but know he’s howling in heaven, ruling the roost and enjoying the all you can eat buffet. RIP Dali Rockstar Jackman. We love you!" he ended.

When loved and cared for well, French Bulldogs (or Frenchies) typically live to an average of 10-13 years.

Jackman and his wife Deborra-lee Furness adopted Dali into their family back in 2010. They also have another dog named Allegra, who is a poodle and terrier mix.

A certified furdad, the 53-year-old actor frequently sprinkles his Instagram profile with pictures and videos of him spending time with his dogs.
