Kylie Padilla shares missing her sons so much as she's 'been dad for quite sometime now'
A lot has changed for Kylie Padilla and ex-husband Aljur Abrenica since they confirmed their split in July 2021. For Kylie, among the hardest changes she has gone through is living a life as a single mother.
The 30-year-old actress and her former partner got married in December 2018 after having an on-again, off-again relationship that began in 2011. A year before their wedding, in August 2017, the estranged lovers welcomed their firstborn Alas Joaquin. This was followed by their second child, Axl Romeo, in December 2019.
Rumors of Kylie and Aljur's breakup began circulating in February 2021, with the two confirming their split in July of that year. They ended their 10-year relationship because of third-party issue.
In a Facebook post on April 19, Kylie expressed how being a single parent has affected the amount of time she spends with her kids and make her badly miss her sons Alas, 5, and Axl, 3.
The actress wrote, "Single motherhood is so hard! I don’t want to mince words anymore. I miss my kiddos. I’m trying to find so many way[s] to explain to them why mama is always away and always tired."
"I wish I could just hold them forever and make them understand how much they ground me and how much they guide me and how much of what I do is for their future," she continued.
The celebrity mom is then looking forward to the day she'd get to spend quality time with her kids again after spending "quite sometime" on doing daddy duties.
"Konting tiis nalang and you’ll have me the whole day promise," she continued. "I think I’m ready to mom again, I’ve been dad for quite sometime now huhuhu."
Meanwhile, Aljur revealed in an interview with Aster Amoyo for her vlog "TicTALK" last Nov. 18, that he and Kylie have been co-parenting their kids. He said that the two of them have been constantly talking to each other about their children.
“Sa co-parenting, doon kami nag-focus ngayon. Kasi iisipin niyo na yung mga bata eh. Almost everyday, nag-uusap kami," the actor said, noting that their conversation goes like this, "Si Alas ganito ang ginawa niya, anong reaksiyon mo dito kapag ginagawa niya to? Ako, ganito ginagawa ko. Sige, I’ll try that. Pag-uusapan pa namin kung what’s better pag nagkakaganito ang ugali niya. Paano natin i-aapproach?”
As for their schedule, Aljur said that he visits his kids three times a week: ""Friday, Saturday, Sunday. Sometimes one to two weeks if Kylie has taping, but usually, hindi talaga ako tumatanggap ng work during weekends.”
He said that although he and Kylie have been living apart, "we’re still learning from each other how to be good parents in the best possible way we can."
