We will see you soon, Song Kang!

South Korean actor Song Kang wrote a touching letter for his fans, fondly called Songpyeon, a day before he was set to begin his mandatory military enlistment.

In a report by Korean entertainment media outlet Soompi, the My Demon star expressed gratitude towards those who supported him since his debut in 2017.

"I'm not sure where to start…! As you may have seen in news articles, I'm finally going! SONGPYEON who has loved me since my debut in 2017 and even after that! I think I am who I am because you are always there," he said, translated into English by Soompi.

"So many memories and years are passing by like a flash these days," he continues, adding that he is grateful for Songpyeon, who filled his 20s with meaningful times, including birthdays, anniversaries, and fan meetings, among others.

"Lately I've been writing gratitude notes before I go to bed. There are so many things that I feel grateful to SONGPYEON for. I am so thankful that SONGPYEON filled my 20s with meaningful times including birthdays, anniversaries, fan meetings, etc."

The Love Alarm star also hopes to greet his fans in person before heading to the military, "I won't be by your side for a while, but time will return quickly. I hope to greet you in person again then with a grateful and healthy heart. When that time comes, I hope to see you happier than you are now."

The Korean actor also enumerated some things he wanted to learn while in the military, including learning a new language.

"There are many things I want to do when I join the military, and one of them is learning a new language."

"I'm not going to let the year and a half go to waste. I hope that SONGPYEON will also spend the times in a meaningful way, doing what you want to do and finding yourselves."

Song Kang concluded his letter by explaining the etymology of his fan's name, Songpyeon, which he finds meaningful. He also promises the latter that he will be there and think of each other while ensuring he will be back in "good health, safely and happily."

"I love you SONGPYEON! I always do," Song Kang ended.

Song Kang's agency, Namoo Actors, announced on Thursday, Feb. 29, that the former will be "enlisting as an active duty soldier of the [Republic of Korea] Army on Tuesday, Apr. 2."

The agency added that the Nevertheless star would be enlisting privately and asked for the fans' understanding as no official events will be held to "prevent safety accidents due to congestion on site."

"We ask for the warm love and support of many people in order for Song Kang to return in good health with greater maturity after diligently completing his mandatory service," they added.

Song Kang recently starred in the TV series My Demon with Kim Yoo-jung. He is also known for his roles in Nevertheless with Han So-hee, Sweet Home, and Forecasting Love and Weather, among others.

He also visited the Philippines in 2023 for his first fan meeting in the country.
