The second season of Netflix's spy-adventure series The Recruit has added an acting powerhouse to its cast in the form of South Korean actor Teo Yoo.

According to the streaming service, Yoo will join the upcoming season as a series regular. He will take on the role of Jang Kyun, a clever and driven South Korean National Intelligence Service agent who is highly skilled but with a subversive sense of humor. Like a guardian, he is willing to do whatever it takes to protect those he cares about.

Yoo gained prominence for his role in the romantic drama film Past Lives, where he was nominated for several prestigious recognitions including the Independent Spirit Awards. His other projects include Decision to Leave, Love to Hate You, and Leo.

The Recruit's first season takes viewers into the shoes of Owen Hendricks, a fledgling lawyer who was just hired to work for the Central Intelligence Agency.

However, his life gets dangerously messy when he gets entangled in convoluted international politics when a former asset threatens to expose the agency's secrets unless they clear her name. He now finds himself at odds with menacing individuals and groups as he tries to fulfill his duties.

Yoo is now set to join lead star Noah Centineo in the show, which includes cast Laura Haddock, Aarti Mann, Colton Dunn, Fivel Stewart, Daniel Quincy Annoh, Kristian Bruun, and Vondie Curtis-Hall.

The continuation will follow Owen as he is pulled into life-threatening espionage in South Korea, only to realize that the bigger threat just might be coming from inside the agency.

Centineo, who starred in the To All The Boys I've Loved Before franchise, expressed his excitement for the show's renewal in an interview with Netflix's Tudum, "I know I speak for our entire cast and executive team at eOne and Netflix when I say that we’re thrilled to be returning to The Recruit for a second season. I’m looking forward to seeing what [showrunner] Alexi Hawley has in store for us all."

The Recruit was released back on Dec. 16, 2022, with eight episodes. The continuation is yet to have a definitive premiere date.
