Rabiya Mateo, Jeric Gonzales spark breakup rumors after unfollowing each other on Instagram
Is it over for Rabiya Mateo and Jeric Gonzales?
The celebrity couple has become the subject of breakup rumors since eagle-eyed social media users noticed that they are no longer following on Instagram.
The two have yet to comment on the split speculations as of writing.
This comes over a year after Rabiya opened up about dealing with a breakup with Jeric that lasted for a week.
"Nag-break po kami ni Jeric, siguro mga one week lang, parang wala lang. Parang nag-away lang kami na nagkatampuhan. But because we’re in showbiz, parang everything was blown out of proportion," she said in a mediacon for her now-defunct TV series Royal Blood in June 2023, adding that they were able to fix things in private.
"So, nung nagkaayos na kami, saka palang lumabas yung article na break na kami, this and that. So, nag-usap na kami na, 'Okay, panindigan na lang muna natin ‘to,' because we don’t want to confuse the public and have them say na, ‘Ano ba, gimmick ba nila ‘to?!?’"
"Tapos, nung naging private kami, we fixed 'yung mga bagay na kailangan naming ayusin," she said.
Rabiya and Jeric confirmed their relationship in March 2022 by posting a series of Instagram photos from their romantic getaway. The two met in November 2021 and took part in a GMA-7 show for one episode.
In March this year, the former beauty queen revealed that she initially hesitated to date Jeric because of negative comments about the actor.
“First time kong mag-date ng celebrity, and minsan kapag celebrity din ‘yung dinedate mo, ang daming opinyon, ang daming sinasabi about him and at first I was shaken about it," she said in an interview on Fast Talk with Boy Abunda. "Parang hindi ko alam kung paniniwalaan ko ba ‘yung pinapakita ni Jeric or ‘yung sinasabi ng mga tao about him kasi ibang-iba.”
Rabiya explained why she eventually chose Jeric to be her boyfriend. "Si Jeric, para kasing nakita ko gaano [siya] kaseryoso at pinaramdam niya ‘yun sakin," she said at the time.
