PENTAGON's Hongseok gets discharged early from military duties due to health reasons
PENTAGON’s Hongseok, who has enlisted in May, has been discharged early from military service due to mental health issues.
In a Soompi report, Hongseok's agency Cube Entertainment on Dec. 26 released a statement announcing the news.
The statement read: “PENTAGON member Hongseok was classified for the Wartime Labor Service and was medically discharged from his military service.”
The agency also shared that Hongseok has been suffering from mental health issues, specifically symptoms of depression and panic disorder with agoraphobia, and had received continuous treatment and counseling in the training center.
The agency added, “However, as his symptoms have worsened, the military has decided that it is not possible for him to simultaneously continue military life and treatment, so he has been medically discharged.”
Cube Entertainment shared that they will help continue Hongseok’s treatment.
Hongseok is the third member of the boy group to enlist in the military.
PENTAGON is a South Korean boy band under Cube Entertainment. They started their career in 2016, with the group consisting of nine members: Jinho, Hui, Hongseok, Shinwon, Yeo One, Yan An, Yuto, Kino, and Wooseok.
