Rufa Mae Quinto opens up about marital problems with Trevor Magallanes
Rufa Mae Quinto has broken her silence on the status of her relationship with her husband Trevor Magallanes, who confirmed that he and the actress are in the process of ending their eight-year marriage.
In an interview on Fast Talk with Boy Abunda, Quinto admitted that she and Magallanes are currently "going through something," but expressed her hope of having a proper conversation with him to clear their issues out.
I'm here,'" she said.
"Kasi syempre, pagod ako—lagi akong wala, in short. So syempre, there's always two sides of the story, pero naiintindihan ko rin na hindi naman puro ako lang ang tama. Syempre siya rin naman, may reason din. Pero, we're going through something," she continued.
While Magallanes said in December that she and Quinto are "in the process of a divorce," the latter clarified that none of them has filed for it yet.
Walang nag-file," she said.
Quinto said she wouldn't want to file for divorce, saying, "Dito rin naman kasi kami kinasal sa Pinas, so hindi ko rin alam kung ano ang gagawin. Masyadong masakit pa eh, tapos may anak din kami na nagsabi, 'When will our family be together?' daw. Sabi ko na lang, 'Wala eh.' Ang hirap sagutin, ‘di ba?"
The local star noted that Magallanes is a good father and a husband, though the problem is he doesn't want to get involved in showbiz matters.
Tahimik, very private kasi," she said, adding that she has never said anything against Magallanes that would make him a laughing stock.
When asked if she still loves her husband, Quinto was quick to say yes.
Magallanes announced that he and his wife "are in the process of a divorce" in December through his Instagram stories.
"You may be aware divorce can be very devastating to the children and also the parents. That being said, my marriage has been a s---t show and I am sorry for that. All that matters [to] me at this time is getting through the divorce as best as I can and spending time with Athena," he said.
Split speculations between the two were fueled a week prior, when Magallanes posted screenshots of his alleged conversations with Quinto on Instagram where they are seen having a heated argument.
Quinto tied the knot with Magallanes, who is based in the US, in November 2016. They welcomed their daughter in February the following year.
