Markus Paterson confirms split with Janella Salvador, says their 'only priority' is their son Jude
Actor Markus Paterson has broken his silence regarding his relationship with Darna star Janella Salvador, revealing that they ended their romance "almost a year ago."
This was in response to netizens criticizing him for what he said in a recent podcast called Boys After Dark or B.A.D., where he discussed dating and relationships with fellow actors Anthony Jennings, Jae Miranda, Gello Marquez, and Aljon Mendoza.
In the viral chat, he said, "Kung may lessons ako sa mga relationships ko, [it's] to never f*cking date someone in the industry. 'Wag niyong i-cut 'yan. Seryoso ako diyan. [S]a lahat ng mga nanonood na batang artista o gustong mag-artista, ‘wag kayo mag-date ng ibang babaeng artista."
In his Instagram story on Saturday, Sept. 10, Markus wrote that what he said in the podcast was misinterpreted by viewers as he revealed that he and Janella have broken up for almost a year now.
"Just to clear up the facts, me and Janella have been broken up for almost a year. She's happy in life, and I'm happy in life, and our only priority is Jude," he wrote.
"What I said in the podcast wasn't actually about her, but I understand that it was open to misinterpretation because of the way I phrased it and since we never actually announced our break-up," he added.
Prior to this, Janella had already opened up in an interview with broadcaster Bernadette Sembrano that she is a single mom to Jude, saying that she fought for it and that it doubled her strength and power.
"Now that I’m a mom, I now have more confidence. Before kasi, I would overthink, I would get anxious over what people are thinking of me or whatever. But now, after giving birth, I don’t care as long as I’m doing this for Jude, I’m doing this for me, I’m doing what I love to do," Janella said.
Markus first confirmed his relationship with the actress in September 2020 when they shared a romantic video of the two of them slow dancing and sharing a kiss. Later on, Janella revealed in a tell-all video that she gave birth to Jude in the United Kingdom in October of the same year.
