Lisa Marie Presley’s cause of death revealed
The autopsy report of Lisa Marie Presley has been revealed.
According to the County of Los Angeles Medical Examiner’s office on Thursday, Lisa, the only daughter of rock ‘n’ roll legend Elvis Presley and his wife Priscilla, died due to a small bowel obstruction. It was also reported that because of this, it led to the singer’s cardiac arrest.
This situation happens when the small intestines become clogged, sometimes resulting from medication, colon cancer, or adhesions that develop after surgery. Moreover, inflamed intestines because of certain conditions, like diverticulitis, can also lead to small bowel movements.
In the report, the bariatric surgery that Lisa had undergone years ago was the cause of her adhesions in the stomach. The medical examiner’s report also noted that adhesions in this kind of surgery are a “known long-term complication.”
The autopsy found that she had "therapeutic" levels of oxycodone in her blood, meaning that the amount was within the range that is considered safe and effective for pain relief. The pathologist also found quetapine metabolite and buprenorphine in her blood, but these drugs were not considered to have contributed to her death.
“There is no evidence of injury or foul play. The manner of death is deemed natural,” Carrillo concluded.
The singer-songwriter died on Jan. 12, 2023, at the age of 54, after she was taken to a hospital.
At that time, her death was ruled to be natural as first responders found her in cardiac arrest in her home in Calabasas. She was buried next to her son, Benjamin Keough, who died by suicide in 2020.
Lisa followed in her father’s footsteps and entered the music industry, releasing three studio albums throughout her career. She was known for her hit songs Lights Out, Don’t Cry Daddy, and S.O.B.
