Denise Julia to Killa Kush after 'late' allegations against her: 'I'll see you in court'

Published Dec 25, 2024 6:30 pm

Singer-songwriter Denise Julia hinted that she will take the issue she has with content creator Killa Kush to court after the latter alleged that she was four hours late to their scheduled podcast filming.

After the R&B music artist addressed the controversial canceled shoot with renowned photographer BJ Pascual, Julia turned her attention to Kush who had hosted the podcast where Pascual made the claims. In the same discussion, the influencer also shared that Julia was four hours late to her guesting in a past podcast.

On her X account, Julia implied that she wants to take legal action against Kush as she responded to a social media user who wanted the singer to also defend herself against Kush just as she did with Pascual.

"I don’t even want to say her name—she doesn’t deserve that from me. Drama is what fuels her career, and I refuse to give her that satisfaction. But legally..." she wrote, adding an emoticon of a winking face at the end.

In a separate post, Julia tweeted, "hope can back up all that when I see you in court," without naming anyone.

Later on, however, the singer shared a screenshot of their alleged conversation, where Kush supposedly said that while she was "disappointed" to know that Julia was Pascual's "worst celebrity to shoot," she "wasn't surprised" by this."

"As with any episode, it's candid and raw. It's a chikahan podcast not a documentary. So I had to share my bit of experience firsthand. Otherwise the exchange would be inorganic," Kush told Julia as seen in an alleged screenshot of their chat.

"The focus of the show was always to spark challenging conversations in a casual manner, never to shame or humiliate. It's truly unfortunate to see how this all unfolded but I'll always wish you the best. There was never a doubt you'd go far," she added.

Julia then replied with, "Thanks. I'll see you in court. Assuming you'd make a TikTok out of this too, I'll just add that to the lawsuit, so thanks in advance.

Seemingly unaffected by this, Kush messaged back, "No worries, Merry Christmas!"

Julia captioned the alleged screenshot of their chat with, "lols. biglang bait."

Denise Julia's creative director airs side of their story

Julia's new posts came after her creative director Carissa King aired their side of the story in line with the tardiness claims made by Kush against the local singer, stressing that it was "just right to speak up and correct the misinterpretation on that podcast."

According to King, the guesting was originally supposed to take place on Aug. 13, but had to be delayed to a later date due to Julia having "unforeseen mental and physical health emergencies."

"We were able to communicate it directly to Kush, and so she rescheduled the guesting to Aug. 14, Wednesday, day after. What we agreed upon is a solo interview of me, a solo interview of Denise, and the two of us together," King explained.

Kush asked them to come at 4:30 p.m., and so King and Julia left for the studio at 3:00 p.m. as they expected the travel time to only last an hour.

"Although due to heavy traffic, it caused a delay on our ETA (expected travel time) in which it was really out of our control, and we were in real time updating the group chat with actual photos about our ETA," King said.

"Dumating kami ng 6:42 p.m., which shows that we were late for two hours and 12 minutes and not beyond that, in which we were very apologetic for in person and in chat. Denise even offered to pay for the whole cost of the studio, so this totally debunks the statement that we were four hours late," she continued.

King shared that she was actually a fan of Kush's podcast as it had insightful talks about life, womanhood, and career and that it was an honor for her to be a part of it.

However, she noted how the recent episodes now are "slowly taking turns in terms of principles and what should and should not be highlighted on certain topics, such as blind items, gossips described as teas, and honestly, past issues between two people that should have been resolved privately."

"Personally, this can be deceiving and can alter a person's mental health," she underscored. "For her to completely say false statements on her recent podcast, single-handedly picking out Denise's so-called issues is very disheartening and deeply unfair."

Along with her statement, King also included in her Instagram stories the screenshots of her alleged conversation with Kush, which showed the initial delay of the podcast shooting up to how they were stuck in traffic.

According to King, she decided to share the screenshots to "mainly clarify the misinterpretation and false statements."

"Denise offered to pay for the whole studio costs to Kush and her team right away although Kush, as it seemed, refused to accept her offer on the day itself of the guesting," King wrote.

Kush responds: 'Never meant to shame anyone'

Kush, in her Instagram stories later in the day, said it's "truly devastating how this has played out."

Addressing her recent podcast with Pascual that led to immense public backlash towards Julia, Kush reiterated that her "questions and comments on the podcast were never meant to shame anyone," but rather to "open up the conversation on challenges in the creative industry."

I hope this discussion leads to more accountability and professionalism," she said. "My focus is to continue sparking meaningful conversations and challenging minds. I aim to inspire curiosity, foster critical thinking, and encourage others to explore new perspectives.

"Through engaging dialogue, I hope to ignite insight that leads to growth, understanding, and accountability," she added.

As for her past podcast with King and Julia, the content creator claimed that she had spent P18,000 for the studio for the first podcast day cancellation and another P12,000 to extend the rental when King and Julia were late.

She also included screenshots of conversations she allegedly had with the creative director as well as members of her own work group chat, where she aired her frustrations over her guest's late appearance.

When a social media user pointed out how Julia had offered to shoulder the rental fees on her TikTok page, Kush denied that it happened.

"When? I never saw the cheque and they never offered. They only messaged last night to offer to pay so I shut up. But back in August? Nothing," she said.

How the issue started

The issue started after Pascual talked about his unpleasant experience with Julia and her team when he was asked by Kush about the "worst celebrity" he has ever worked with for a shoot. Kush then claimed Julia was "four hours late" during their shoot.

The night before Pascual and Julia's scheduled shoot, Pascual said Julia’s team informed him they wanted to cancel it, with her manager insisting that they couldn't commit to the shoot the next day.

Pascual noted they had to pay cancellation fees for the studio, production designer, and the stylist, which he had to pay for.

Thankfully, they were able to push through with the shoot as another celebrity agreed to do it.

After that incident, he said he "never heard" from Julia again. "No thank you, no sorry, no anything. Nothing," he claimed.

In her Instagram stories, Julia said she has reached out to Pascual after his statements about her on the podcast, highlighting that she is "fully acknowledging my mistake of not reaching out" to him after the incident.

She, however, denied that she canceled their shoot, noting that her manager "was still trying to make it work."

They are set to meet in person to resolve the issue.
