Max Collins on growing up without her dad, looking for him: 'Pagod na ako'
Max Collins openly talked about feeling "incomplete" while growing up without her father, sharing that she even made an effort to look for him in the past.
In an interview on Fast Talk with Boy Abunda that aired on Tuesday, April 7, the actress opened up about her hope of meeting her dad when she was younger. "Sinubukan ko naman eh, but I couldn’t find... I wasn’t successful."
When asked if she will continue with her search, she replied, "I'm gonna stop. Pagod na ako. Okay na 'yun—wala naman siyang pakinabang sa buhay ko."
"Not to be mean," she continued. "It’s like, my mom did everything. Siya 'yung tumayong ama at ina sa aming pamilya, so 'di ko siya kailangan."
According to Collins, her father left them after a fight with her mother and never returned.
"Never naman siya bumalik, ‘di naman niya ako hinanap. So ba’t ko naman siya kailangang hanapin?" she said, noting that her words are "not out of anger." She added, "It's like, you didn’t try naman."
Collins opened up that she used to find her worth in having a complete family.
"Noong bata kasi ako, I really felt like mabubuo ako kapag nakilala ko tatay ko," she went on. "Pero ‘di pala totoo ‘yun eh—depende sa perspective mo sa buhay. ‘Yun ang natutunan ko. I’m buo as I am without my dad."
According to a report by her home network GMA, Collins' father, Christian, is an American of Irish-Italian descent. She was born and raised in the US.
