WATCH: ASTRO, other K-pop stars release tribute song to Moonbin on his 2nd death anniversary
Two years have passed since K-pop star Moonbin's passing, but his light continues to shine brightly in the hearts of fans and fellow artists.
On Saturday, April 19, ASTRO—the group Moonbin was a part of—led the release of a special tribute song, titled Moon, to honor the late singer on the second anniversary of his death. He was 25.
The track features several K-pop stars, including his ASTRO bandmates MJ, Jinjin, Cha Eunwoo, and Sanha, as well as other close friends from the industry.
It also includes appearances by former ASTRO member Rocky and Moonbin's younger sister, Moon Sua, of the girl group Billlie.
Moon also features VIVIZ, MONSTA X's Minhyuk, Kihyun, and I.M., SEVENTEEN's Hoshi, Wonwoo, Mingyu, DK, and Seungkwan, Hello Gloom, former Weki Meki members such as Choi Yoojung and Kim Doyeon, SF9's Chani, and Stray Kids leader Bang Chan, to name a few.
Moonbin was a beloved member of ASTRO. He began his career as a child actor and model before officially debuting with the group in 2016 under Fantagio Entertainment.
Within ASTRO, the late artist stood out as the main dancer and lead vocalist, admired for his graceful movements and emotional performances. He was also part of the group's sub-unit Moonbin & Sanha.
Moonbin was found deceased in his home on the evening of April 19, 2023, his agency confirmed.
Just weeks before his passing, he visited Manila alongside Sanha for their DIFFUSION in Manila fan concert at the New Frontier Theater on March 25.
Even after his death, Moonbin has been remembered through music, fan tributes, and heartfelt projects like SEVENTEEN's Woozi's What Kind of Future.
In 2023, the New Frontier Theater opened a memorial space for Moonbin on Thursday evening, April 20, where Arohas (ASTRO fans) sent their tributes, including messages, flowers, and candles.
ASTRO originally debuted in 2016 with members MJ, Jinjin, Cha Eunwoo, Moonbin, Yoon Sanha, and Rocky.
The group is also set to reunite with former member Rocky for an upcoming concert. No further details have been announced.
ASTRO is best known for hit songs such as Gemini, Knock, All Night, Candy Sugar Pop, and After Midnight, among others.
