Anne Curtis on her Madame Tussauds wax figure and Filipino icons she'd like to have one next
Seeing double? It's because Anne Curtis has officially been immortalized through a life-like wax figure courtesy of Madame Tussauds.
Her statue is set to be displayed at the wax museum's branch in Hong Kong, where it will join other statues from famous Filipino personalities such as Manny Pacquiao, Pia Wurtzbach, and Catriona Gray.
In an interview with PhilSTAR L!fe during her statue's unveiling on Nov. 27, Curtis shared she is "so happy and honored" that fans around the world will be able to admire her wax twin.
"This is definitely an honor for me to be chosen by Madame Tussauds as the very first Filipina actress and TV host. I'm so happy and I hope that I make all Filipinos proud," she said.
"Somehow, that running joke now is going to be possible na hindi niyo na kailangang umuwi para sa birthday ko," she added, referring to her viral "lutang" moment that came from a conversation she had with her It's Showtime co-host Vice Ganda about OFWs.
Her figure was dressed in an elegant cream Dior gown donated by Curtis herself, as she thought it would be great for her wax figure to wear a costume that's "elegant and timeless."
"When we chose this dress together with some jewelry pieces, everything just fell into place. It represented my classic style which blended well with my passion for performing and hosting. This look was precisely who I am and how I wanted to inspire people who will engage with my wax figure," the actress shared.
For her pose, Curtis decided that she wanted her figure to be holding a microphone as the device has played "such a huge role in her career."
"Whether it would be as a Showtime TV host that brings laughter to people in their homes every noontime, whether it be giving a speech as a UNICEF global ambassador, or whether it be doing my concerts all over the world and inspiring people to continue to pursue their biggest dreams," the actress said.
Through her figure, she hopes that it would serve as a "forever reminder" for her fans to "dream big and pursue your dreams."
Her pick for the next wax figure
Curtis now officially joins Pacquiao, Wurtzbach, Gray, and Broadway star Lea Salonga as the only Filipinos to be immortalized in wax at the popular tourist attraction—and she couldn’t be more proud of herself.
"The Filipinos' time is now," she highlighted. "It truly is such an honor. I'll forever be grateful as your pop icon in this industry in the Philippines, whether it be for acting, singing, noontime laughter."
When asked about the next Filipinos who she wants to have a wax figure next, Curtis said that she would like to see the likes of Regine Velasquez, Sarah Geronimo, P-pop girl group BINI, Kathryn Bernardo, Carlos Yulo, and of course, her "sisterette" Vice Ganda get immortalized in wax.
"I feel like these are people who have made a mark in the industry, whether it be locally or on the world," she explained.
Fans will be able to view her wax figure at Madame Tussauds Hong Kong starting Dec. 9 this year. It will be displayed at the Hong Kong Glamour Zone, alongside Hollywood A-listers Brad Pitt, Nicole Kidman, Lady Gaga, Chris Hemsworth, and more. (with reports from Yoniel Acebuche)
