WATCH: Michelle Dee stands firm in setting boundaries in new single 'Makatanong'

Michelle Dee claps back at nosy comments and questions about her life in her new single Makatanong.

The Miss Universe Philippines 2023 titleholder released the music video for her new track in time for her 31st birthday on April 24. 

When she shared a teaser for the music video a day before release, she described her new track as an "early birthday reminder that everyone's entitled to their opinion, but not everyone is entiteld to your energy."

Dee is a co-producer of the song and the music video. "When you write your own song, you would assume that the creative process becomes easier. Well, I had a lot of fun doing this. It means a lot to me that I was able to produce this," the beauty queen shared in the video.

The video showed Dee in sleek outfits, grabbing a mockup newspaper, which said she was giving an official statement. It goes on to Dee on a podium, supposedly addressing questions from people in suits labeled as "press."

The chorus of the song goes, "Tanong ng tanong, 'di naman kasama sa plano. Tanong ng tanong, 'kala mo may bayad sagot ko. Tanong ng tanong, bakit parang may utang ako, relaks lang, 'di lahat kailangan ng oo."

According to an ABS-CBN News report, Makatanong is about Dee's personal struggles from earlier in the year. 

"This song is really about setting that boundary, knowing what you will let affect yourself, knowing where to focus, knowing where to put your energy, and just letting time speak for all of your truths," she told the outlet.

The beauty queen and Rhian Ramos have been accused of assault and illegal detention by Ramos' driver after he was allegedly blamed for stealing Ramos' sensitive photos. The actresses' camp has since disproved his claims, saying it was "physically impossible,' especially as Dee was in Iloilo on the day he said he was detained. Dee has also filed a theft complaint against the driver.
