Vietnam's Huynh Thi Thanh Thuy wins Miss International 2024

A new Miss International has been crowned!

Miss Vietnam Huynh Thi Thanh Thuy emerged victorious from a field of eight talented beauty queens, succeeding Andrea Rubio of Venezuela.

Joining the newly crowned Miss International are the stunning first runner-up, Miss Bolivia Camila Roca, second runner-up Miss Spain Alba Perez, third runner-up Miss Venezuela Sakra Guerero, and fourth runner-up Miss Indonesia Sophie Kirana.

After the announcement of the Top 8, the question and answer portion followed, with Thuy being asked: What has been the most significant global development that has affected your generation's educational system?

The 22-year-old beauty queen answered: "I think it is the emergence of global educational system during the COVID-19 pandemic. Because of the COVID-19, we have to stay at home and learning online. So is it a change for the growth of the education development. And I hope that students will have more chance to expand, to explore the opportunity for learning through education in support to the SDG (Sustainable Development Goal) number four, quality education. Thank you."

During her acceptance speech, she proudly declared she is the first Miss International from Vietnam.

"I'm the first Miss Vietnam coming to Miss International. And now, I am the first Miss International from Vietnam. Finally, I can prove that I deserve all the love and support from my audience and fans from Vietnam and around the world. Thank you so much, arigato gozaimas!"

In addition to the main titles, four continental queens were also announced. Miss Cabo Verde, Miss Cuba, Miss Japan, and Miss Ireland were voted by their peers to represent Africa, America, Asia Pacific, and Europe, respectively.

The Miss International coronation night was held on Tuesday, Nov. 12 at Tokyo Dome City Hall in Japan.

The Philippines' Angelica Lopez fell short of advancing to the Top 20, marking the end of her Miss International journey. The country's quest for a seventh Miss International crown, following the victories of Gemma Cruz-Araneta (1964), Aurora Pijuan (1970), Melanie Marquez (1979), Lara Quigaman (2005), Bea Santiago (2013), and Kylie Verzosa (2016), continues.
