IU cancels concert, postpones album release over persistent ear issues

Singer-actress IU has announced changes to her concert and sixth album release amid her ongoing ear problems.

In a statement posted on the fan community platform Berriz, IU announced that her upcoming September concert has been canceled due to persistent ear problems.

“My ear symptoms have always been erratic, fluctuating between good and bad, but recently, they have persisted day and night for days at a time, and I have repeatedly found it difficult to regain my form while singing," she said, per reports by K-media outlets Soompi and The Korea Herald.

The singer has been experiencing symptoms of her Patulous Eustachian tube dysfunction. According to Stanford Health Care, it is a condition in which these tubes remain abnormally open instead of closing between swallows or yawns. When this happens, sounds produced by your own body, such as your breathing and voice, can echo through the middle ear, making them seem much louder than normal.

Her solo concert, originally scheduled for September, was set to be held at Goyang Stadium, followed by a domestic tour.

Although IU has already completed work on her sixth studio album, its release has also been pushed back by a few months since its promotional activities were originally planned around her concert and domestic tour.
