December Avenue bassist Don Gregorio departs band to focus on his family

Published Apr 13, 2025 5:20 pm

December Avenue bassist Don Gregorio announced that he is stepping away from the band to focus on his family.

Don and the band shared a statement about his departure on Facebook on April 13 to address fans looking for the bassist.

"It wasn't an easy decision, but I know it's time for me to be fully present for my wife and our kids," he wrote.

"Maraming salamat sa lahat ng sumuporta—sa shows, sa messages, at sa pagmamahal niyo sa music namin. We've traveled to so many places and played countless shows. I'll always treasure those memories," he continued, urging fans to continue to support the band.

Meanwhile, December Avenue expressed their support for Don's decision.

"Don isn't just our bassist—he's one of the founding members of December Avenue. For the past 17 years, we've shared so many memories on and off stage," they wrote.

"And while it's tough to imagine playing without him beside us, we fully support and respect his decision to put his family first. That takes courage, and we're proud of him for it."

The band went on to say that they will not replace Don with another bassist.

December Avenue, an indie pop band, was formed in 2007 by Zel Bautista on vocals and acoustic guitar, Jem Manuel on guitar, Don Gregorio on bass, and Jet Danao on drums. Gelo Cruz on keys was added in 2016.

The band is known for their hit songs Kung 'Di Rin Lang Ikaw, Huling Sandali, Bulong, Sa Ngalan ng Pag-Ibig, Eroplanong Papel, and Kahit Di Mo Alam.

They recently performed at UP Fair and are set to take the stage in Zambales, La Union, Pangasinan, Misamis Occidental, Batangas Sports Complex, and Iloilo City.
