Han So Hee set the record straight following the criticisms she received when she publicly unveiled her relationship with Ryu Jun Yeol.

In her blog post, the My Name actress addressed the rumors about the timeline of her relationship with Ryu Jun-yeol. She also asked the public to not use the term "transfer love"—which in South Korean culture is when a person moves on quickly with a new partner—to describe their relationship. This comes after fans speculated there might be an overlap with his previous relationship with Hyeri.

"[What I said about] the timing of their breakup wasn't something I heard personally [from Ryu Jun Yeol]. I wrote that based on an article from June of last year, but if it was out of line, I'll delete it. I was trying to prove that we didn't get together while he was still dating [Hyeri], but I think this was rude as well," she wrote in Korean, translated to English by K-entertainment site Soompi.

According to So Hee, she and Jun Yeol started developing feelings for each other at the start of 2024 and clarified that the latter's relationship ended in the previous year.

"His breakup with that person was already wrapped up in early 2023," she stressed in the same blog post.

"Based on this fact, I confirmed my own feelings, and I kept going with the relationship," she added.

However, Xportsnews claims that there were no stories concerning rumors of a separation between Hyeri and Jun Yeol published in June, which is why the reply was also met with criticism.

Nonetheless, the Gyeongseong Creature star admitted the mistake and said that she "made a small matter snowball into something big."

In the blog, she also addressed the recent Instagram story that she shared, which was a picture of a dog holding a knife, along with a text that  says she doesn't like "meddling in other people’s relationships." Social media users think it was her reaction to Hyeri's recent story with the caption that translated to, “How funny” or "How interesting."

"Rather than getting swept up in [what other people are saying], I am very much at fault in this incident. Starting with my Instagram story, I think I made a small matter snowball into something big," So Hee said.

"I think I lost my temper for a moment and committed a rude act because I heard and saw various rumors and stories about transfer love, even though I didn't want to see them. I would like to apologize to that person as well, and I sincerely apologize for not being able to act wisely towards you. This was an action that was driven by emotions rather than reason, so regardless of the reason, I unconditionally admit that I was at fault," she said.

Reflecting on herself

The actress acknowledged her mistakes and is yearning for a more fulfilling life.

"These days, I feel like the thought of having to show only my good side is probably ruining me even more. As I live a life that focuses more on the results rather than the process, I look back and see if I missed anything during the process," So Hee said.

"Even if I don't have a conceited and arrogant attitude, if you see me that way, it probably means that I already have some level of bad attitude. I think it's time to face it and go back to my roots and find out what I really wanted to do, what I liked, and what made me happy," she wrote.

She apologized to her fans and promised to "do better" and "control" herself better.

"I'll come back with a more mature side of me," So Hee said.

Soompi reported that dating rumors between the two started on Friday, March 15, after they were spotted on a vacation in Hawaii. Later in the day, So Hee's management said there was no truth to the speculations as she was just on a trip "with close friends."

The following day, So Hee confirmed the romance speculations with Jun Yeol in a blog entry on Naver.

"First, it's true that we are in a relationship with positive feelings," she wrote.

Meanwhile, Ryu Jun Yeol's agency, C-JeS Studios, responded with the following statement on the same day So Hee confirmed their relationship. According to them, the actor had "gotten to know Han So Hee after his breakup" with Hyeri.

"Ryu Jun Yeol and Han So Hee confirmed their positive feelings for one another and have been dating since the beginning of this year. Ryu Jun Yeol got to know Han So Hee after his breakup, and they recently confirmed their feelings [for each other]."

Jun Yeol was previously dating Hyeri after working together in the hit 2015 drama series Reply 1988 as Sung Deok-sun and Kim Jun-hwan, respectively. They went public about their relationship in August 2017 and broke up in November 2023.
