Angel Locsin's father passes away at 98
Angel Locsin’s father, Angel Colmenares, has passed away. He was 98.
The news was announced by his relative on social media on Wednesday, March 5.
“My Deepest Sympathy and Condolences to the Family of Angel Locsin. May You Find Eternal Peace and Happiness. Rest in Peace Lolo Budi,” Joseph Colmenares wrote.
His granddaughter Kristel Jane Jocson Javier also shared photos of Colmenares from his birthday in February 2017.
“All the memories with you lo kahit bihira tayo magkita will treasure it forever. Our reunions and birthdays mamimiss namin.
In Locsin's 2019 guest appearance on ABS-CBN's Magandang Buhay, the actress opened up about her relationship with her dad, whom she described as religious.
Kung kaya niyang mag-isa, gagawin niya, ganun si Daddy,” she said.
She expressed regret that she couldn't arrange her father's eye surgery.
Despite this, she couldn’t be more grateful to her dad for being supportive of her career as an artist.
“Hindi siya nagkulang, kahit mawala eyesight niya, gumagawa talaga siya ng way para maging part ng buhay ko,” she said.
That same year, she fulfilled her father’s dream of owning a beach property in Zambales.
In her vlog with her dad in 2022, Colmenares reminisced about his swimming career, including his bronze medal victory at the second Asian Games, held in Manila in 1954.
“I coached the American School of Swimming Team, fun run...Ang Magnolia International Marathon ako nag organize niyan,” he added.
When asked about his tips to have a long and happy life, he answered, “Eat healthy foods, exercise regularly, kailangan magkaroon ka ng peace of mind, good mental health, of course, [kailangan] nasa Diyos ka.”
