Song Joong Ki welcomes first child with wife Katy Louise Saunders

Song Joong Ki is now a dad!

According to K-entertainment site Soompi, the K-drama actor’s agency High Zium Studio confirmed that he and his wife, British actress Katy Louise Saunders have welcomed their first child. 

“Song Joong Ki became the father of a baby boy in Italy,” his management announced in a statement.

Song also shared the news through a heartfelt letter posted on his official fancafe. 

“Right now, I’m in Italy. Here, in my wife’s hometown of Rome, we happened to welcome our baby. It’s a healthy son.. and both the baby and his mother… are in very good health. As we welcomed [our child] in good health and joy, I am taking care of my family very happily, with a grateful heart,” he wrote in a letter, as translated by Soompi.

The Korean star called their newborn “the most precious gift.” 

“I think [our son] is the most precious gift to have found its way to us, a married couple whose biggest dream all our lives was to start a happy family,” he continued. 

Song announced his marriage to the British star in January. He was previously married to Song Hye Kyo, his co-star on Descendants of the Sun.

The 37-year-old actor is best known for his roles in various hit K-drama series, including Vincenzo and Reborn Rich.
