Song Joong Ki announces marriage, expecting first child with Katy Louise Saunders
Song Joong-ki has announced his marriage to Katy Louise Saunders, with their first child on the way.
On Jan. 30, the Vincenzo star announced his plans to tie the knot with the 38-year-old British actress through a letter to his fans.
The statement reads, “Today, I am greeting you because I want to share a promise that is more happy and valuable to me than anything."
"I have promised to continue life together with Katy Louise Saunders, who has been by my side supporting me and who I have spent valuable time with while cherishing each other.”
The 37-year-old actor went on to take pride and express admiration for Katy for having a kind heart and being a "sensible and amazing person."
“Thanks to her, I am becoming a better person,” he said.
Joong-ki went on to announce their new journey as a married couple, with their child on the way: “We naturally dreamed of creating a happy family together. We have put in much effort to keep each other’s promises, and we are sincerely thankful as a new life has come to us.”
He furthered, “And today, based on our deep trust and love for each other, we are on our way back from registering our marriage to begin life as a married couple.
"As we are now, the two of us will walk our days ahead beautifully while facing the same direction.”
Joong-ki went on to express his gratitude for his fans, “I sincerely thank all the fans who always cherish me no matter what."
"Especially following the wishes and support of Ki Aile (Song Joong Ki’s fan club) who provide the greatest strength to me throughout my acting career, I will work to fly higher as an actor and individual with the wings of greater responsibility and passion,” he added.
“I hope everyone will be happy and healthy until the day I can greet you in person,” the actor concluded.
A few hours after Song Joong-ki announced his marriage to Katy, Korean entertainment portal Dispatch released paparazzi photos of the actress shopping for baby clothes with her mother earlier this month.
Song Joong-ki first confirmed that he’s currently in a new relationship with Katy in December 2022. This is his second marriage after his divorce from actress Song Hye-Kyo in 2019.
