Matt Damon reveals his 'The Odyssey' stunt double was a woman with the 'greatest arms'
Veteran actor Matt Damon did not shy away from the fact that he used a female stunt double in The Odyssey.
In an interview clip of the Happy Sad Confused podcast, host Josh Horowitz pointed out how Damon had an impressive physique, particularly the biceps.
While Damon thanked Horowitz for the praise, he admitted that he can't take full credit for the muscular limbs, eventually revealing that he had a female stunt double for one sequence in the action fantasy movie.
“When we did the forced perspective stuff of the Laestrygonians—I don’t know if there’s been a thing about how we did it—there were these stunt men who were all seven feet,” he said, referring to the giant armored adversaries in the film.
“And then they got stuntmen who were under five feet, and so my double was a woman, a female stunt performer, who had the greatest arms I’ve ever seen,” he added.
Damon also recalled meeting the stunt double at a catering tent, hugging her and thanking her for all her hard work.
“So there are those shots in the movie where you see these giants looming over me, and so it was almost 100 percent my arms in the movie, but you gotta give it up where it’s due,” he said.
Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Christopher Nolan, The Odyssey adapts Homer’s ancient epic poem and follows Odysseus (Damon), the King of Ithaca, on his perilous journey home after the Trojan War. As he and his men confront mythical creatures and countless dangers, his wife, Penelope (Anne Hathaway), and son, Telemachus (Tom Holland), anxiously await his return.
Aside from Damon, Hathaway, and Holland, the film features other A-list actors, including Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron, Lupita Nyong’o, Elliot Page, Jon Bernthal, among others.
