Celeste Cortesi, Jonathan Sterling confirm breakup
Celeste Cortesi opened up about her breakup with British entrepreneur Jonathan Sterling, who revealed that he had planned to propose before their split.
In the final episode of Celeste Unscripted, Celeste and Jonathan opened up about their split.
The first few minutes of the video showed the two enjoying a romantic dinner in Amanpulo before finding out that they were expecting. They also shared how they broke the news to their loved ones.
However, in their final interview, Celeste and Jonny revealed that they had broken up.
“We just have to prioritize our baby. Again, I do believe this baby is still a blessing,” the beauty queen said. Jonathan, for his part, said: "We're trying to find a good way forward for Sergio."
Sharing more about their breakup, Jonathan revealed that he had been planning to propose to Celeste, but she ended their relationship before he could pop the question.
"Actually, she broke up with me,” Jonathan said. “We were supposed to get engaged. The whole crew is there. Everybody’s waiting on the beach… so she can have this picturesque proposal on the beach that every girl dreams of,” the British tech entrepreneur said.
“I’m not perfect. I made a lot of mistakes...She can say that once or twice I broke up with her too easily," Jonathan said, adding, "My media-trained answer is it was an unsafe, unhealthy environment and I had to step away."
On the other hand, Celeste opened up about her IVF and pregnancy journey, where she was on "a lot of medications" for months before getting pregnant.
Reflecting on her actions and the impact they had on their relationship, Celeste acknowledged that she was not always emotionally balanced during their time together.
“I’ve been going through many changes and hormones—that I don’t think they should be taken away from accountability," she said, admitting she "regret some things I said and done" particularly in their relationship.
"I think for most of our relationship I was not balanced. I think it affected a lot the way I would behave, the way my mood would be," she admitted.
Despite the breakup, Jonathan wishes nothing but the best for their son, Sergio.
When Celeste was asked if she still loved Jonathan, she tearfully replied, “Of course.” Jonathan was asked the same question and answered, “Of course. I just wish it didn’t end this way.”
According to the show’s production crew, the two signed a mutual non-disclosure agreement as part of their parental rights arrangement, limiting what they could publicly disclose about their relationship outside of the show.
The crew also revealed that the two rekindled their relationship for several months following the interview. However, their relationship remained on and off before they eventually decided to end things for good.
Their focus is on maintaining a healthy co-parenting relationship and creating a stable environment for their son, Sergio.
Celeste announced that she's pregnant with her first child last April. She later revealed that she was expecting a baby boy.
In June, she assured her followers that things between her and Jonathan are "good" amid breakup rumors.
