Olivia Rodrigo shares she was thinking about her grandfather during her PH concert
Olivia Rodrigo opened up about why she got emotional during her GUTS show in Bulacan.
In an interview with Rolling Stone at the premiere of her concert film on Netflix, the Filipino American singer shared about her experience performing in the Philippines for the first time.
"It was amazing. You know, I've never been [to the Philippines] and I always wanted to go my whole life and so it was such a meaningful moment to get to connect with my Filipino fans," she said. "And they were so warm and welcoming and couldn't have embraced me more."
Olivia added that it was also her dad's first time in the country.
"[We] got to experience it together. It's something I'll never forget."
The drivers license singer also shared a special moment from when she sang Enough for You during her show on Oct. 5 at the Philippine Arena.
"I was thinking of my grandpa [at] that moment who never got to come see me perform, let alone in the Philippines," she told Rolling Stone. "And so I was thinking about him and it made me really emotional."
Olivia held her first concert in the country earlier in October, which she called a "dream come true."
She performed her hits Deja Vu, Good 4 U, Vampire, Traitors, and many more.
Olivia previously told Disney that her paternal great-grandfather moved from the Philippines to America as a teenager.
