TRENDING: Celebrities who nailed the ‘Perfect Pitch’ challenge on TikTok

By Melanie Uson Published Sep 27, 2024 7:08 pm

Can you do the perfect pitch challenge?

Social media users have been showing off their singing skills in a new TikTok challenge. In this new viral video filter, a user must nail the Tonic Solfa—a method used to teach people aural skills and pitch reading. It uses a mnemonic of seven notes (excluding the second Do) in the musical scale.

To achieve the challenge, the user must hit each note perfectly to help the ball pass through among the notes.

The trend has become so big that even popular artists in the music industry tried singing their Do-Re-Mis. Here are some of the best celebrity entries on the challenge:

Charlie Puth

Charlie Puth, who is famous for his high note songs, One Call Away, Left and Right, and Marvin Gaye, passed the challenge with no sweat!

Fun fact: The 32-year-old American singer-songwriter said he has perfect pitch. During his guest appearance on Jimmel Kimmel Live in 2022, he showed his skills in being able to identify notes even on a simple pen tap on a mug, as well as being able to replicate the sounds, like phone vibrations to “mess with [his] teachers” in school.

Bella Poarch

Instead of directly singing the notes, singer and social media personality Bella Poarch sang the early parts of Do-Re-Mi from the 1965 film, The Sound of Music. In the caption, she shared that she learned the song in the church choir when she was 12.

Bella released some hit songs in 2022, which included tracks Inferno, Build a Bitch, and Dolls.

Dia Maté

Beauty queen-singer Deanna Marie Maté also hopped on the trend and passed the challenge.

Apart from being a beauty queen, Dia is also a singer and songwriter. Her songs include Fantasy, Dream, and I Wanna Make You Mine. In 2022, she was featured in Spotify RADAR, which spotlights new artists.

She recently won the Miss Reina Hispanoamericana Filipinas crown, and is set to represent the Philippines in the international competition.

Moira Dela Torre

OPM singer Moira Dela Torre also showcased her vocals in the TikTok challenge. Several social media users quipped that even on the viral challenge, Moira didn’t miss on giving a “heartbreaking” tune.

“Bakit kahit DoReMi lang, ang sakit sakit pakinggan?” Content creator Krissy Achino wrote in the comments section.

Despite not being a professional singer, Sofia Andres still showed off her skills and passed the TikTok challenge. Prior to this, her recent big moment on the platform was when Sabrina Carpenter called her daughter, Zoe, a “princess” while the latter was dancing and lip-syncing to her song, Espresso.

Joe Jonas
