Alex Gonzaga is veering away from cakes after her blunder that made her a hot topic on social media for weeks.
The content creator got creative in marking her father’s birthday this month by greeting him with a “tinapay” cake instead of the usual ones with icing. “Happy birthday, daddy! Love you always!” she wrote in her post.
“Pasensya ka na, tinapay nalang muna mapapadala ko sa’yo pambirthday. Magiwas-iwas na rin kayo sa (cake). Mahirap na,” she added, accompanying her caption with a laughing emoji.
Her “Daddy Bonoy” turned another year older on Feb. 5.
The vlogger trended on social media on Jan. 16, when she smeared a server’s forehead with icing from the chocolate cake he was holding for her during a birthday song. The incident was caught on video originally posted on Instagram by one of her guests, fellow content creator Dani Barretto. Though she already deleted it, the video spread like wildfire online.
Netizens took Gonzaga to task, with their criticisms mostly revolving around her “prank” lacking respect, and her “kalog,” playful personality just won’t cut it. Hotel and restaurant workers also stressed the importance of treating servers with respect after her blunder.
Gonzaga apologized to the server named Allen Crisostomo in person on Jan. 17. "Last Jan. 17, 2023 around 6:30 p.m. nasa work po 'ko. Pumunta po si Ma'am Alex kung saan po 'ko nagwowork then nag-apologize and nag-sorry siya saken," he wrote in a signed statement.
