BLACKPINK's Jisoo celebrates anniversary of first solo album 'ME'

It has been one year since BLACKPINK's Jisoo entered her soloist era with the launch of her first solo album, ME, on March 31, 2023.

On Instagram, the K-pop idol recalled her excitement after releasing her first solo in almost seven years of her career.

"It's already been a year since my first solo album, [ME], was released to the world! I still vividly remember the nerves and excitement from my first solo in almost 7 years," she wrote.

The BLACKPINK member also extended her gratitude toward the K-pop girl groups fans (a.k.a. BLINKS), who patronized her first solo title, FLOWER.

"Flower, which bloomed with great love, will forever blossom within me."

"To all my BLINKs and everyone who loved my first solo title," Flower, "may happiness always bloom in your hearts. Thank you, and much love to you all," she said, adding that she continues spreading love and striving to be deserving of fan's support.

Jisoo is the fourth and last BLACKPINK member to make her solo debut, following Lisa's LALISA, Rosé's R in 2021, and Jennie's Solo in 2018.

The 29-year-old singer's first EP features two tracks—FLOWER and All Eyes on Me—which can be streamed on Spotify and Apple Music.

FLOWER comes with snappy beats and melancholic lyrics that talk about finally "flying away like a white petal" from a relationship that was "cruelly trampled" and "crimsonly burned down."

Jisoo showed BLINKs why the track could likely be your next favorite dance song, with its stylized choreography that the idol performed on the track's music video released on the same day as her album.

In a statement released to South Korean media outlets last 2023, YG Entertainment said Jisoo's FLOWER MV is one that fans should "look forward to" as it has "the largest production cost ever among BLACKPINK videos." At that time, it was "being filmed in an overseas location in strict secrecy."

Meanwhile, All Eyes on Me is a more upbeat track that starts with candy pop tunes that transition into synthpop. As the title suggests, Jisoo uses the song to demand a lover to give her his full attention so she could "feel alive" and keep their fire burning.

In Dec. 2023, BLACKPINK members, Lisa, Jennie, and Rosé, Jisoo decided not to renew their contracts with YG Entertainment for their solo activities.

In February, Jisoo launched her own talent agency, BLISSOO, joining her bandmates, Jennie's OA and Lisa's LLOUD.

The K-pop superstar said on her social media pages that the label aims to spread happiness just like how Jisoo created it in her unique way.

"Transcending the boundaries of genres and fields, our mission is to share the happiness that JISOO creates in her own unique way," the caption read.

Before this, the Korean idol-turned-actress joined the upcoming Korean film Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint, top-billed by other South Korean superstars, including Lee Min Ho, Ahn Hyo Seop, Chae Soo Bin, Shin Seung Ho, Nana, Park Ho San, and Choi Young Joon.

This marks Jisoo's second acting project after the 2021 historical tragedy drama Snowdrop with Jung Hae-in.
