Robert Pattinson confirms pause in 'The Batman' sequel production as director Matt Reeves steps away
Robert Pattinson said that production of The Batman Part II is "pausing for a little bit," after writer-director Matt Reeves stepped away due to personal reasons.
The Twilight alum shared the update while chatting with Official Pop Drop at the red carpet premiere of Primetime in London on Oct. 11.
Earlier in October, representatives from DC Studios and Warner Bros. shared a statement with multiple outlets noting that film production was temporarily paused as Reeves focused on a family matter.
The studio added that it supported the director and looked forward to continuing work at the time.
The sequel's production has been affected by delays following the 2022 film's release.
It was only in June 2025 that director Reeves gave a massive update on Instagram, confirming that the script had been finalized. Variety later reported that the sequel has already started filming, with the director sharing a short first look of Pattinson back in July.
Pattinson’s Batman marked the iconic DC superhero’s return on the screen following Ben Affleck’s portrayals in Batman v. Superman in 2016 and Justice League in 2017.
The Batman Part II was originally expected to hit theaters in February 2028.
