Trace Cyrus says dad Billy Ray is threatening legal action after concerned post
Trace Cyrus claimed that his father Billy Ray Cyrus threatened legal action against him after he made a concerned post saying the country singer needed to get "help."
The 35-year-old musician, the brother of Miley Cyrus, penned a plea to Billy Ray after the Achy Breaky Heart singer's live performance at Donald Trump's Liberty Ball celebration.
The 63-year-old artist experienced a few issues with his audio when he took the stage in Washington, DC. At one point, with a gruff-sounding voice, he asked, "Is my guitar still on? I think they cut me off. I don't hear my guitar anymore" before he said, "Is anyone awake?"
This prompted Trace to say that he could "barely recognize" Billy Ray now.
"It seems this world has beaten you down and it's become obvious to everyone but you. You may be upset with me for posting this but I really could care less at this point," he said.
"Me and the girls have been genuinely worried about you for years but you've pushed all of us away."
Trace added that his younger sister Noah wanted their father to be part of her life.
"You're not healthy Dad [and] everyone is noticing it. Just like I showed up for you at mamaws funeral when you didn't expect me to I'm still here right now."
The Killing the Pain singer then shared that he's been sober for a year and a half and told his father that he's open to help.
Alleged legal action, siblings' reaction
In his latest post, Trace expressed disappointment at Billy Ray's reaction to his post.
"I could have been extremely honest about a lot more but I don't want to put your business out there like that. But for you to threaten me with legal action for wanting you to get help is a disgrace," he wrote in a Jan. 26 post.
"I will always love you but I no longer respect you as a man. Everyone close to you is terrified to tell you how they really feel. I'm not. Get help."
A Cyrus family source told People Magazine that Billy Ray's daughters are staying out of the drama.
"They got through the drama of 2024, and it's a new year. Miley and Noah and Braison and Tish, they don't want to be this Cyrus family feud. This is not enjoyable for them," an insider said.
"Miley used to feel overwhelmed by the family drama. She worked hard to remove herself. She's not about to get involved again," another People report said.
Another source told Page Six that the Flowers singer hasn't had a relationship with her father "for a long time" and has "no interest" in reconciling.
