How this creator became Alex Eala's 'accidental videographer' at Bad Bunny's Stockholm concert
Fresh from her impressive Wimbledon campaign, Alex Eala was caught fangirling over Bad Bunny.
In an Instagram reel on July 12, content creator Mayumi Toribio captured footage of Alex attending Bad Bunny’s concert in Stockholm, Sweden. Mayumi became Alex's "accidental videographer" after the Filipina tennis star asked if she could use the creator's clips.
Mayumi, who's also a private personal trainer, was vacationing in Sweden and happened to score tickets to the Grammy-winning artist's show. She told PhilSTAR L!fe that she could not believe her eyes when she saw Alex on stage.
"At first I was joking: 'Oh, an Alex Eala-look-alike' [because] we’re not used to seeing her in a party dress. She is always in tennis clothes or formal clothes," she shared.
"For someone who loves fashion, I was in awe of how she stood out in the crowd as this beautiful Filipina, dancing and having a great natural energy on stage. And since then, my lens never left her."
The clips Mayumi shared showed the 21-year-old athlete dancing in the background of Bad Bunny and his crew, along with other fans on the La Casita stage. A day after, Mayumi was surprised when Alex DMed her on Instagram for the videos.
"Her tone just sounded like a 'barkada,' you know? It was warm and youthful. I would have loved to meet her and airdrop the videos, but she showed me she’s already on a plane headed back home," she continued, adding that Alex complimented the shots she took.
Alex has since posted a TikTok video of her moments from Bad Bunny's concert, including clips from Mayumi.
“Mientras uno está vivo, uno debe amar lo más que pueda,” the tennis star captioned the post, which translates to, “While one is alive, one must love as much one can," in English.
For Mayumi, the exchange with Alex was more than special. "As the owner of a production company, there’s no bigger compliment than knowing the moments you captured became someone’s favorite memories," the creator captioned her Instagram Reel.
"It reminded me why I do what I do. The best content isn’t always planned. Sometimes, it’s simply being ready when the moment happens," she added.
The creator also told L!fe that, like many Filipinos, Alex lit a fire in her heart. Apart from taking up Padel and joining the national team for the racket sport, Mayumi started her own production company focusing on working with pro athletes.
Asked for her message to Alex, Mayumi said, "My job as a content creator for pro athletes came in handy. It was lovely to capture you outside the courts. Hopefully, I get the chance to do it again."
On July 10, Bad Bunny performed at the Strawberry Arena in Sweden as part of his DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS tour. He is known for his hit songs Tití Me Preguntó, Dakiti, and Me Porto Bonito and has collaborated with Drake and Dua Lipa.
Meanwhile, Alex recently made history after reaching the Round of 16 at Wimbledon in London—the first Filipina to do so.
During her stint, she defeated Mexico's Renata Zarazúa, Australia's Maya Joint, and 2025 champion Iga Swiatek before falling to Italy's Jasmine Paolini.
