The Department of Tourism has just launched P-pop girl group BINI as the country's newest tourism ambassadors.

On Friday, July 3, the eight-member girl group dropped by the DOT Central Office in Makati City for a courtesy call with Tourism Secretary Maria Bernardita "Dita" Angara-Mathay. During their visit, the performers were launched as the faces of Philippine tourism. The P-pop queens are composed of members Aiah, Colet, Gwen, Jhoanna, Maloi, Mikha, Stacey, and Sheena.

On the sidelines of the Wanderlust Week press conference on June 29, Angara-Mathay teased the department's choice of picking two P-pop groups to represent the Philippines in future tourism campaigns. Refusing to name the groups then, Angara-Mathay instead explained the DOT's decision to select pop performers.

"Music is very important. When you watch, for example, an animé, why do you like it? Why do you remember it? It's not just the images but the music behind," said Angara-Mathay during an interview with the media.

"We want to combine music and images together so that you form a feeling that stays. That's what we're after," she added.

DOT has been outspoken in its support for Filipino artists representing the country on the world stage. Most recently, the department congratulated BINI for being the first Filipino group and P-pop act to perform at the 2026 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, California. The music festival ran for two weekends in April.

In the same month, BINI was honored with the Global Force Award at the 2026 Billboard Women in Music Awards held at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles, California. The P-pop group followed in the footsteps of Sarah Geronimo, who won the award in 2024, making her the first Filipino to be honored with the recognition.

On Aug. 27, 2024, BINI and fellow P-pop ambassadors SB19 received Billboard Korea’s Voices of Asia award in Seoul, Korea.

BINI kicked off its Signals World Tour with two sold-out back-to-back concerts at the Mall of Asia Arena on June 20 and 21. After their Cebu stop, the group is set to go on an 11-stop North American tour in August. On July 1, however, the group announced on its Facebook page that "due to unforeseen circumstances" beyond their control, they would be postponing the European leg of their tour, adding that tickets will be refunded.
